Abstract

Stunting reflects the condition of growth failure in children under five years old due to prolonged chronic malnutrition. Stunted children are relatively shorter than toddlers their age. In addition to impaired physical growth, stunted children also have impaired cognitive development, which will greatly affect ability and achievement at school as well as productivity and creativity at productive ages. The purpose of the study was to determine the effectiveness of pocket book media as a health counseling media on changes in knowledge and attitudes of mothers in providing complementary food for infants and toddlers. This research method is Quasi Experiment with the design of the one group pretest posttest design. The sampling technique in this study was by means of non probability sampling type conscutive sampling. the sample in this study was 29 respondents. The statistical test used is Paired sample T-Test. The results showed that the average knowledge value before and after the intervention was 61.07 and increased to 69.62, while the average attitude value before and after the intervention was 73.38 and increased to 77.10. There was a significant increase in knowledge (p-value = 0.003) and attitude (p-value = 0.003). The conclusion is that the application of pocket book media is effective in increasing the knowledge and attitudes of mothers of toddlers about complementary feeding as an effort to prevent stunting. It is hoped that the pocket book media can be a reference and used continuously.
